Grid-tie is a good option here assuming there are no extended winter time
gird outages in the area. If the client wants to expand in stages, you
could purchase an appropriate sized inverter that would allow one string
now and another string later. This is way more efficient financially than
buying two grid-tie inverters, one now and one later.
Also, I have numerous GTI systems in operation and I am sorely tempted to
bypass the GTIs. I suspect they are terribly inefficient and unreliable.
