Gas Range Recommendations For Off Grid Use [RE-wrenches]

Greetings,

Yup, Peerless even has a model that has a battery powered clock/timer
(may have been discontinued). They have models with a pezo sparker
ignited standing pilot in the oven and if you don't have any power, you
can hand light the pilot with a match.

The problem with some of their ranges when powered by a mod-square wave
inverter, is some times the use of an appliance in the home like a
vacuum will cause all the pezo electric sparkers to fire away non-stop
until the vacuum is shut off. It's very weird. One client with an
older Heart Freedom series inverter put the stove outlet on a switch and
just powers the stove to light a burner.

They also have the old standing pilot models for the top burners too if
I'm remembering right. Some of my clients buy these, turn the top
pilots off at the adjustment screw, and light the burners with a match
or lighter.

There was a previous thread on these stoves which you may want to search
on the archives.

Another testimonial. We have a Peerless in our house. We've moved it
three
times in 7 years. Once of the grates got banged up this last move and
we
were easily able to get a new set that dressed up the stove quickly by
calling them directly. I think they are made in Illinois.

During that time we converted from propane to NG then back propane using
the
same orifices. It just requires just some sort of adjusting procedure,
no
new parts. I'm not even sure how you do it since it's so simple my wife
does it. Wait, that didn't sound right.

We get 10-11 months for a family of 4 using dedicated "100 lb" propane
tank.

We have sold maybe eight Peerless-Premier ranges over the last decade or
so.
Have yet to have a problem with one, other than freight damage once. As
plain or as fancy as you wish (except for no Viking/Wolf McMansion
models to
prove how much you can afford.)
