There are two solutions - one requires a PC computer on-site and the 
other uses a custom built "chunk o' hardware" which does it all itself. 
Both use a serial cable from the MATE to a computer type RS-232 serial 
port.  An OutBack HUB will allow connection of up to ten OutBack 
products - Inverters and MPPT controllers.   

The PC computer on-site uses a software program which runs on either 
windows or linux.  This software is offered by Righthand Engineering and 
well as a new company whose software I will test this weekend.  

The Chunk O' Hardware type solution is custom built and can be seen in 
operation at www.solarhacker.net and is offered by Darren Emmons.  

The custom hardware unit should use less power and operate more 
reliably.  Darren has some of these out in the field now for months and 
is looking at going into production in volume soon - possibly with  
lower cost...
