Here's my reply to most of the out-of-country stuff:

"Due to the high incidence of credit card fraud (and forged bank cheques) we can
only accept bank transfers from our out-of-country customers.  It is very
time-consuming to get freight rates for international shipments, so unless our
terms are understood and agreed upon for the goods, we do not have the time to
waste.  We get literally HUNDREDS of fraudulent attempts to buy our goods.  We
hope you can understand our predicament."

Once in a while one of these pans out.  But you'd better pad the margin, and the
freight, to make it worth your while.  Just my .02 cents worth.
