Sale? Yes. Legitimate? No. Three years ago I ran a credit card
authorization on a purchase order to our website and it cleared. I
naively had a $6,000 order shiped directly from our supplier via DHL to
an address in The Gambia. It was purchased with a credit card stolen
from some English guy and it never made it to its destination. I can't
remember the city but it stopped tracking somewhere in Europe. The
English guy naturally disputed the charges and I was out a bundle of
money. Most credit card merchant accounts do not guarantee
international authorizations. I wish I knew that then.
