NYC - Local Code Requirements [RE-wrenches]

Huh.....

This seems extremely biased (dah). I am curious how it is that the DOB
justifies this decision. Currently, no other completed electrical system is
required to under go such testing as long as ALL COMPONENTS USED IN THE
SYSTEM ARE UL CERTIFIED/APPROVED FOR THAT PURPOSE.

Would this be a case where the inspectors are not properly educated as to
what to look for? Therefore, they are CYAing? I say this because we have
corrected (rewired, including replacing/installing disconnects where there
were none) several Astropower/Home Depot systems in the New York/New Jersey
area.

It would seem reasonable that an explanation be forthcoming. Once you get
one, perhaps speaking w/John Berdner @ SMA regarding the explanation. I
suggest this only because he sits on one of the NEC code determination
boards. One may be able to use the NEC to pleasantly argue against the DOBs
position.

Just a thought.
