Jay,
Actually, a lot of people with on- or off-grid PV/battery systems pay
attention to or are concerned about their batteries. They (and I) would pay
for a useful battery fuel gauge just like they pay for a genset fuel tank
gauge.

HI Joel,

I think you answered your own question.

Most folks will only find out what they've got in the batteries when  
the lights go out.
So battery capacity meters for on grid don't make much sense to me if  
you only
look at it when the batteries are dead.
