How are people dealing with this in California?
If your 800 amp service is underground and the meter is on the padmount 
transformer and the panel is in the middle of the building what do you 
do?

Tap into a few measley inches of 500 MCM before it hits the bottom fed 
main?  Either that or replace the 800 amp with a 1000 amp panel?

Lousy options if you ask me.

Maybe people are just setting their breaker and ignoring it.
