I've got a off grid pv customer who has heard the siren call of cheap Home
Depot generators for his back up charging - Generac 7kw $ 1,888; 10kw $2,599
(both stand by LP units).

I do not have experience with Generac generators. My question is how do they
compare with a Kohler 8.5kw standby LP model more money at $3,195. I have
had very few problems with the Kohler's over the years and they have been
easy to use as backup power for off grid pv systems with their two-wire
start. I have also had good success with Honda EM700is $3,250(gasoline).

If they run the loads they told me about it should require, about, 150 to
200 hours per year generator run time.

I have heard rumors about unhappiness with Generac gen sets. What is the
word these days?
