wind conference, to be held in the Stevens Point/Custer area a few

Focus on Energy to Sponsor Barriers to Small Wind Conference
- Second annual event highlights specifics about installing a wind turbine -
(May 8, 2006) - Focus on Energy is proud to sponsor the 2nd Annual
Barriers to Small Wind Conference on June 20th and June 21st near
Custer, Wisconsin. Held in conjunction with the Midwest Renewable
Energy Association's Renewable Energy and Sustainable Living Fair,
this conference will identify the barriers to the installation of
small wind systems (100 kW and smaller) and address how to overcome
them. This is the second formal gathering of people and businesses
involved in the specification, siting, installation, maintenance,
funding and permitting of small wind systems.
Topics to be covered include:
o What wind turbine and equipment manufacturers are doing
right, and what still needs to be done
o How to achieve a positive public perception of small scale wind energy
o Input from dealers and installers: what works, what needs work
o Development of a Best Practices For Installing Small Wind
Systems (up to 100kW)
o Update on NABCEP certification for small wind turbine installers
o How to deal with utilities, zoning officials, and wind opponents.
Wind equipment installers, site assessors, equipment dealers,
manufacturers, renewable energy program implementers, state funding
agencies, zoning officials, policy makers and other stakeholders are
encouraged to attend.
The registration fee for the conference $40 and includes lunches both
days. Rustic Camping is available through the MREA. Participants in
the conference are encouraged to stay for the Renewable Energy and
Sustainable Living Fair at the MREA's Renew the Earth Institute June
23rd through the 25th.
