Hello Wrenches -

Last year there were changes in the California Indemnity Clause designed to
severly limit the historical deep pocket loses many un-related contractors
(working on the same project) experienced.  The changes in the indemnity
clause was expected to reduce general liability insurance rates.  We haven't
seen any significant decreased in rates, rather we have seen the opposite.
And, we have seen where quotes are coming in based solely on payroll or
solely on sales, and even some that are a mixture of both, which makes
things even more confusing.  We have seen quotes from 3 times last years to
6 times and then some.  We have never had ANY claims whatsoever.

Are any of the other California PV Installers experiencing the same?  Would
you be willing to share the carrier and method (not rates) of quoting
(payroll or sales)? 
Also, when you are coming up for renewal, how are you identifying yourself?
Electrical contractor, Solar Electric Contractor, Plumber, Solar Hot Water
contractor, other?
