Hey Ray, Windy and all,
I will mention that the 2,400 watt SQ1HP pump has too small a wire (well
driller installed the pump). The total run was about 50 feet beyond the
maximum run for number 12 and they used number 12. I told the client it
should be replaced but he won't do it because it "works" and he doesn't
want to hassle with the driller dude.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but with a regular submersible I think the
voltage drop would not result in a greater current draw, rather lower
voltage to the motor and reduced performance and GPM. Is it possible
that the inverter and controls on the SQ might actually result in a
higher current draw due to the slightly lower voltage supplied??
Just a thought -- Kurt

The 3" diam. SQ pumps are slightly less efficient than their 4 "
cousins,
at least according to Grundfos's design software that predicts annual
energy use. That 2400 watt draw is close to the same DC number I saw
with a
1 Hp SQ at 350 ft to water and 40 psi. Inverter was an SW plus (Pyramid
psuedo sine wave?).
