As usual, I left something out I meant to say one day PER WEEK of generator
run time.

Typically, we barely pay attention to the summer loads. We size for ~1 day
of generator run time in the winter. Then coach the customers to combine
generator running with laundry day. The winter loads dominate the size of
the system in my experience.

We have advised potential customers with low budgets that they can size for
the summer initially and then add modules as the budget allows. We do make
it clear that they will be running the generator a lot in the winter.
Rarely do these folks turn into our customers. I'd guess about 95% don't do
anything and a few do it with out any professional installation help.

Jonathan-

Your comment about sizing for summer came as a surprise to me, as I was
trained to design for winter. I understand all too well the rationale for
doing so, as I have lost too many bids in the low-competition off-grid
market in my area.

Question to all off-grid Wrenches: Do you do this as well? If sometimes -
What (besides the clients budget) is your determining factor to design
summer vs winter?

Thanks
