I agree.  It is important to understand how to do the load analysis 
procedure, just so as to understand the impact of different loads on 
the system, but in reality it is not necessary to try to predict how 
many hours a given light switch will be on.  It is actually more 
accurate to go on previous experience than to work from first 
principles.
