Barbara,
I would be remiss if I did not strongly echo David's positive sentiments
about the San Juan College program (I'm also a graduate). San Juan College
is a very nice facility (in an albeit not so nice location -two coal burning
power plants in the vicinity, along with mondo oil and gas development -but
it provides a strong dose of "real world perspective" on the effects of the
fossil energy industry). It could be great for a recent H.S. grad -with a
full curriculum and some great instructors, there are ample other learning
opportunities. "Chance favors the prepared mind."

Barbara,
About time I chimed in here, I suppose. Positive Energy hired the entire
first three graduating classes in San Juan College's then-new RE
program--and all three people were a great asset to the business. Dan
(above) was the second graduate. Further, business partners Randy Sadewic
and Mark Drummond are also graduates, having left other career fields to
follow their values.

OK, so my credentials are unimpeachable when I say that it's an excellent
program, and I strongly encourage this man to look into it. SEI will teach
him enough to design his own good system; SJC will teach him the skills to
hit the ground running with employment in the field. For us, a SJC RE
certificate is a way for a prospective employee to get an interview.

My two cents.
Allan at Positive Energy
