Austin Energy, the Austin Muni, has a history of betting on promising
technologies but they have not always been as successful as with wind
and PV.
Back in the '80s, AE invested millions in a nuclear power plant and
ended up getting burned on the deal. This made a lot of residents very
skeptical when they began talking about putting tax money into wind and
solar a decade later. A little research and an open mind can go a long
way.
