Jay,

Evergreen had some QC problems, as they were manually installing all the
MC's onto the standard J/B's. They went to a 100% after production QC,
and the problem "virtually" disappeared. (Greatly reduced from previous
levels.) The "good news" (if there is good news on a manufacturing
defect) is that these panels could be rewired in the field since they
had an accessible box. Of course, it's lousy needing to do this, but
better than sending the panel back.

They are very soon (this month, next month) coming out with a machine
installed potted J/B. Should reduce the issue to almost nil (one in
10,000 or more is what I've heard as a standard from other
manufacturers.) The disadvantage is that the module will no longer be
able to be field changed to 24V with a replacement diode.

Even with the potted J/B on any module though, we test every module
either on the ground or on the roof for Voc. Tells us if polarity is
right, and if the Voc is in range. We never get full Voc (we're not
pointing the modules, they might be partially covered, etc.) but we can
tell if we've got a full panel working or a half panel (diode) or no
panel.
