Thanks to all the feed back on the El sid question.
My thought about a system that's way to large for the summer is to
provide as much as possible during the fall/winter/spring to reduce
propane use as much as possible. I don't have a good location for
vertical mounting.
I'm not thrilled about the diversion loop. When I have way too much
heat ( summer), I don't want it anywhere in the house. Also I'm
trying to reduce pump run time wear and tear etc.
I'm planning on a kind of retractable covering thats snap switch
driven. The covering would also cover the solar panel driving the
pump shutting it down. I don't have this all figured out just yet,
but open to ideas. I don't have snow to worry about. In the mean
time I'll probably just use some shade cloth over sections of the
panels to reduce production.
I don't get real cold here ( 15-20 degrees F is about it although
5-10 is not uncommon) so I don't have to worry too much about solar
panel voltages.
In regards to plastic pipe, why not? Much better heat break than
copper, much cheaper, smoother. CPVC is rated to 200F at around
100PSI. The poly glycol isn't corrosive at all?
thanks all,
jay
