Obsolete?? Man am I feeling old....
  Many times the benefits of MPPT just don't outweigh the cost.  With 
smaller arrays (under 600 watts), especially of mismatched modules, the 
year round boost  (10% to 20%) doesn't pay for itself. After less than 
overwhelming results with MPPT, I still spec C-40s in some smaller 
systems.  Maybe the new 30 amp models from Blue Sky and Outback? will fill 
that gap.
