Ray,

I have been able to configure the outback inverter to come on and stay on
from turning on a single 20w cfl, something I was not able to do with other
inverters. We do this daily during the worst of the winter. Sometimes if
the cfl is cold (<60-65f) it will not keep the inverter awake but do a weak
strobe. We have found that by turning on the computer/copier outlet strip
the associated phantom load brings the inverter out of sleep and thus can
act as a type of remote on switch. We have few other phantom loads and
mostly the inverter is in search mode only during winter nights to conserve
about 2% of the battery bank.
