Roy,
I have a good 5-page set of instructions excerpted from the American
Electrician's HandBook, Tenth Edition.. Contact me off-list with your
address and I'll mail you a photocopy. I ran a small set of these Edison
Nifes for a few years and now I have a large bank of modern Nifes from
Hungary and China..They are definitely very different from lead acid. They
have their own peculiarities, but are very robust and tolerant of mild
abuse and extreme conditions.

Subject: Edison cell information [RE-wrenches]

I recently picked up a rather large amount of Edison cell nickel iron
alkaline railroad batteries. (Thanks Mr. Sharkey!!)
I was wondering if anyone out there has an old manual for these or
anything else in print which would help with the care and feeding of
these critters?

The manufacture dates range from 1943 to 1957 and all appear to be in
fair to good condition. I don't anticipate being able to resurrect all
of them but am hopeful that some of them will prove to be useable. If
nothing else, they will make great paperweights and conversation items
in my showroom!

Hopefully some of you are are of the pack rattus family like I am and
have something lurking WAY back in the dusty stacks....
