A PV array (just the array) that is ground-fault device protected is not grounded except when intentionally testing (tripping) the ground-fault device.

During normal operation, i.e., a no-ground-fault-present mode, the PV
array(s) are grounded. That is, the negative conductor is connected to
ground, right? Or am I not understanding you properly, Joel?
