Hey Brian and all,

I've been following this a bit and was wondering if the suction hose
could be a part of the problem? If not designed for suction, it might
be that it is collapsing and greatly reducing delivery.

Another e-post recommended the Surflow (Spelling?) pump and I have also
used those as a charging pump. In caution I would mention that
particular attention must be paid to having a rise in the entire piping
with air bleed valves at any high point(s), as it is a low flow pump and
will not move a lot of air. This is especially problematic with in-slab
heating systems.

Wrenches,

What pumps or other techniques are you using for the initial system fill
for
closed loop solar hot water? We are currently using a Teel 1/2 hp
centrifugal utility pump and we have to turn it on and off repeatedly
because the flow drops off after a few seconds even when there is no
pressure in the loop. It takes a long time to get the air out of a
system
this way. Not to mention it's frustrating. Would a positive displacement

pump solve this?

Thank you,
