David, Jay,
I haven't had experience with the new sealed Takagi, but got plenty with the
earlier T-K1 & 2, which probably use the same electronic controls. These
units all draw 2-3 watts when "off", but didn't get ruffled by having their
power shut off overnight, nor by SW waveforms. (not sure about mod-sine)

I would certainly NOT recommend outside mounting in most U.S. climates,
particularly where David lives! Jeez, why tempt Fate? But do they put the
freeze protection heater in the sealed units? Seems like they're aiming
these units for indoor mounting.

Cheers,
Doug Pratt

Hi Bill,

The other electrical part is the freeze protection which is an
electrical heating element since the units are designed to be mounted
outside in all weather.

For those that live in really cold winters this drain could be a big
problem.
