<<An optimimally selected conventional AC sub is about 35% efficient (in
terms of watts per pumped gallon). A pump that is oversized for the job
is often closer to 20%. That's BEFORE adding inverter losses. You know
what I'm going to say next -- One of today's helical rotor DC
submersible systems can be found in the 45 - 60% efficiency range. And,
some of them are big enough now to handle both lift and pressurizing
sufficient for most home situations. Windy >>

Yes. But every time we put a "new and improved" DC submersible pump down the
well in the past we regretted it in the end. So forgive us if we don't trust
the next "new and improved" DC sub pump. The AC pumps are very trustworthy
and work for years with no call backs. Also, in homes using 100 to 150
gallons of water per day the efficiency factor is not a big deal compared to
pulling a f___ing DC pump back out of the well.
