I don't believe it would work.  The Batteryless/Batterybased inverter
pairing works because the batteryless inverter sees the ac output of the
battery inverter, syncs up and feeds ac into the microgrid.  The energy when
input exceed loads "flows" into the batteries back through the ac output
terminals. 

The batterybased inverter, however, can only sync to its ac input, and when
it DOES sync to that it transfers all loads to the ac input source and sends
the remainder of power available to the batteries.  If that ac input is the
output of the neighbor's inverter and so on back around the block, I think
it's only a matter of time before the whole ring would fall apart like some
kind of Ponzi scheme.

If only battery based inverters could sync up and play well with others just
like string inverters do!
