Bill,
This is the same way we do our systems; 3 big Sharps in series, an OB
Combiner and then the OB DC with thier breakers. We did have one instance of
the MX 60 failing though, perhaps because of a high voltage spike thanks to
edge-of-cloud effect on a cold morning.
Outback was very quick to help us out with this by sending a new unit that
they had burned-in on the bench. No problems since.

Jay,
It looks like the MX 60 has received its approval for up to 150
Vdc--that's
good news for your three module series string setup. What series
overcurrent
protection are you using on that system. It still appears that the circuit
breakers are limited to 125 Vdc, so going with the Bussman tilt-out fuses
is
the way to comply--is that what you are doing? I think your approach makes
the most sense and reduces the wiring by about half (less wires and
smaller
wires).
Bill.

Hi Mo,
For off grid work I use either 6 or 9 panels top of pole rack.
That way I can do 3 x 24v panels in series with the MX 60 ( 48v battery
only though).
Less wires, circuit breakers and smaller wire.
