As far as a repair of the existing pipe goes a new 5" schedule 80 pipe
inside the existing 6" pipe comes closest to the bending strength of the
original pipe.
Here is a comparison of the bending strength for several repair options:
six one-inch rebars with concrete ...... 51%
eight one-inch rebars with concrete ... 68%
5-inch schedule 40 insert .................. 64%
5-inch schedule 80 insert .................. 87%
A less attractive but effective and cheaper repair would be a 24-inch
diameter reinforced concrete collar extenting from the original concrete
up 18" past the damaged area. Eight 1/2" pieces of rebar in holes bored
into the original concrete will allow a solid connection to the original
foundation.
