Greetings Wrenches,
I know this came up a while back but I find myself in a need to make
a quick decision. Searched my archives and could not locate the
thread. I'm scheduled to start a job next Monday with 60 + standoffs
where I'll be working with a roofing contractor to re-roof the area
where the PVs go. The problem is the roofing contractor just this
morning discovered that his flashing will not accommodate anything
less than a 4" standoff where as I'll be using Unirac's 3" standoffs.
Feasibly I could rush order the proper no-calk standoffs from Unirac
but the roofer is concerned about the collar breaking down over time
and has not used the Oatey no-calks in years. Anyone have an
alternative to these units? I seem to remember the conclusion being
that the Oatey collars are made of better material these days as well
as the fact that they will not be exposed to light will ensure a
longer life? I certainly don't want to put the roofer in a situation
where he feels he's sacrificing the integrity of his work using the
Oatey's but he is open to any new info on the subject since he's not
revisited installing this style within the last five years.

Also, is everyone paying around $4 a piece for the GBL-4DBT lay-in
lugs? Know of any vendors that have them in stock? Supposedly one of
our vendors offer them for $1.80 but they've been on backorder for
months and I'm thinking it must not be the same lug since I'm finding
such a large price discrepancy.

Thanks for your time, Nick A Lucchese
