  I hadn't heard of this before either, but it sure would explain some of 
those "spontaneaous" we've been discussing of late.

  Matt;

  I bet that is the culprit in most battery explosions. The most dangerous
  gasoline tank is one that is just filled with fumes. Also the bridging and
  arcing internally couldn't occur as easily when submerged in coolant (the
  electrolyte). I hadn't heard of this before, but it suddenly makes sense.
