No, they all had internal recharging of the starting battery when running.
The AC charger was optional on the 1800 rpm units only, and we never ordered
it for off-grid applications. With the smaller units (6.5 through 12 kW) the
controller had essentially no draw when off, so a one or 1.5W PV "Battery
Saver" was enough to counteract self-discharge. With the larger units (20
kW, in all our cases) we added about a 20W module and small regulator to
keep up with the standby load.
We haven't used or sold one of the RES units, and with all of the good units
gone (the old flathead 6.5 RMY and the 10RY) gone, we don't expect to sell
many more either.

I thought all of the RMY generators came without a built in generator
for the starting battery and came with an AC charger that often failed.
We always put a small 5 or 10 w PV module on the starting battery. At
685 ma you might need a bit more than 10w PV though.
