  I agree completely. Sealed batteries have generally proven to have a 
shorter, more expensive life in off-grid applications from my experience, 
but they are pretty good as backup for battery-based grid-connected systems.

  If it ain't broke don't fix it.  Twenty years is a dandy battery life
  cycle.  I'm  personally dubious about maintaince proof batteries lasting
  that long, and with the price premium I'd be loath to find out.  I have 
yet
  to see sealed batteries provide as long a life span as their flooded
  cousins.  In my area most of the folks who bought gel or agm cells for off
  grid use are disappointed.  My recommendation would be to go with the lead
  calcium flooded cells again.  It's cheaper and it works.
