  We cut vertical slots in the pipe with the "ears" bent out @ 45 deg. to
allow the mud to flow in and prevent the pole from turning and,
occaisionally, weld short pieces of rebar onto the pipe.

  In a deep pole installation in a roundish hole I doubt that rebar in the
crete would make any difference at all since it's a monolithic pour with the
pole acting as rebar - especially when you allow the concrete into the pipe.
