Any other "tricks" to keep the inverter charging at full amps longer
when powered from generator? Jeff Yago

Hey Jeff,

Maybe the customer is used to seeing the voltage come up much faster on
his old batteries because they were toast.

What voltage does the battery come up to and are the amps falling off
dramatically as the voltage comes up?

If the Kohler is putting out 240 and you are only using half the output
to the SW at 120vac, you could put a transformer between the generator
and the inverter to utilize full output (or wire the Kohler for 120vac
only?).

at end of day setting the Trace SW40 for equalize and running generator
up to 6 hours.

I tell my customers it is better to run the gen-set during the morning
on a sunny day with the PV's assisting in the EQ, rather than running
the generator at the end of the solar day.

I've had difficulties getting SW's to do an EQ automatically. Setting
the bulk and absorption settings very high is a good work-around, but of
course you also have to have the "High battery cut out" set higher.

There are a couple other settings on the Sw that might have been
accidentally tweaked by the customer. It sounds like you are having the
Trace start the generator in which case "Set Maximum run time" would be
one. "Set Maximum Charge amps" would be another.

Good luck -- Kurt Nelson
