Hey I won't stop you Travis, I'm planning on doing the same thing at my
shop. What a billboard! and who cares about maintenance when your drive
time is 0 secs. The only problem is your customers will see how cool they
are and want one too.
As far as MTBF, I've done enough repairs to probably
offer statistically valid info. (just kidding)
My experience is about what someone else here said : about 18 months MTBF.
Lightning stomping the controller is usually it.
BTW, I've got a Wattsun at my old house that has lived without trouble
since 1998. Then a kid ran a solar car into the tilt drive at about 10 mph.
Bent the crap out of it, I straightened it out, replaced the actuator and
its back in action. I think the key to success on this install is that I
grounded the array directly to a 400 ft steel well casing for lightning
protection.
