Hi Mo,
Ryan is correct. The Fronius DatCom system can be used for Met data independent of our inverters. You could read in power from other inverters using a CT if necessary. It won't be seemless, but it's technically doable.
Typically, the IG gives all the power, voltage, current, etc., info to the Datalogger directly, so the pulse inputs on our Sensor Box are for building load or other such values. But you could use those inputs for DC input or AC output and get the right values. Also, we now have a large public display that fits into the DatCom system. It has two LCDs displaying data type and value (e.g., Power - 2685 W, Irrad - 1000 W/m^2, Temp - 78 F, etc.), so you'd either be able to display your data that way or with a PC.
If you'd like more info, I'd be happy to help further off-line at pv-us at fronius.com.
Best of luck,
Brian

Mo,
You may want to look into the Fronius data logger and sensor box. We have one set up here at our shop and it is able to run independently from the inverter. It is able to give info on irradiance, module and ambient temperatures and wind speed. The set up runs ~$1800 list. There are two other inputs on the sensor box for pulse transducers that allow for power and energy information from the array. These require CTs that Fronius can recommend but don't have as a stock item yet.
I haven't been able to get ours hooked up through the network yet (it should be possible but I haven't figured it out) but if you have a dedicated computer in the kiosk anyway..... Brian Farhi can probably speak to this better than I, but feel free to contact me directly if I can help at all.

Hi All,
Wanted to pick the collective's brain.
We are completing a 60kW project for a local water utility. We are using
SB2500 inverters and a Sunny Control.
The customer has just asked us to provide him with a kiosk in the lobby for
public education purposes. I can handle getting the inverter data, but we
were also thinking about adding meteorological data, specifically insolation
and temperature. I believe these are analog outputs and would require the
use of a Sunny Control Plus. I have an e-mail to SMA requesting
clarification.
To point: does anyone have a recommendation for good, reliable
instrumentation that would work in this set-up and not cost a small fortune?
First one for me.
Thanks,
Mo
