My Son who runs a small engine repair shop/generator sales and service has
had many problems with the Generac line of gennys, and has switched to the
Honda powered Colman line of genny's, and has experienced very few problems
with these units. The only problem I am aware of is the Honda engine low oil
shut-down system is very touchy, and will shut the unit off if the oil and
filter are not changed often. Apparently Honda has set their low oil
shut-down to activate in just miliseconds if the oil is dirty, or the filter
is plugged ever so slightly. He has contacted Coleman about this, and they
have confirmed that they have cured the problem.
I personally prefer the Kohler line of back-up genny's. They are more money,
but have performed great with not one service call to date.

I was pleased that the basic transfer switch and wiring were all laid out
for
easy installation. The operation is flawless, however these units are not
designed or made heavy use. They are designed for short, intermittent
coverage
(say 5 to 10 hours a year) of grid outages.
