Hi Kurt,

I once had a system with repeated C30 failures in a frequent
lightning area. We had the array grounded separately from the C30.
i.e. there was a ground rod at the array, a ground rod at the SW but
no ground wire between. I've theorized that when lightning hit -
even a few miles away - a voltage difference develops between the two
rods and you blow the equipment. This was our theory anyway - when
we added a ground wire between the two rods the failures stopped.

You say the system was well grounded - how well?
