Matt, Mo, and Owen,
For what it's worth, I've never had an inspector ask
us to ground a roof. It has crossed my mind, but so
far we've been lucky in that regard.
To avoid denting the metal tiles you have to step at
the bottom edge of the course of tiles where the 2x2
firring strips are. You might want to bid in a little
extra time for having to walk carefully on the roof.
I don't like these types of roofs - I think they look
like crap, but they are doable from an installer's
standpoint.
