Hi Steve,
The category is Heat Recovery Ventilators, HRV

The good ones use corrugated aluminum laminated in a 90 degree cross 
flow pattern.
They only need a couple of fans to move the air, or work with another 
fan in the AC system.
I used to sell the Lifebreath models, they are very well made and easy 
for a contractor to install.

The Turbulent Flow Precipitator  Filtering System is a remarkable and 
very effective design. It is a good adder for people who need the 
particulates scrubbed.
