Hi Bob,

I'm not sure about the latest EZWire centers but
if it's anything like the earlier ones there is
very little clearance between the aluminum case
and the rectifier bodies in the unit which are
all hot. About 1/4" separates them at the
tightest places as I remember. On top of that,
the cover hinges on two little screws at the back
top (or was it bottom) of the unit in such a way
that if you lose one of those screws (easy to do
and not notice), the case can sit askew and come
in contact with the hots. I discovered that the
hard way one day when removing the case without
shutting down power (and my case was grounded).
It's also really easy to drop a screw in one of
those units and it gets lodged between the case
and the rectifier bodies (hots).

Hope that's all it is. I can't say I've eve been
very impressed with EZwire centers - no UL
approval - diversion regulator often doesn't
work, meters were often inaccurate (they used
wire length for shunts in the unit), and the case
to hot contact risk. Was hoping SWW wind would
upgrade someday. Anybody listening at SWW?

I'm actually about to replace an EZwire center
that we recently lost in a power shed fire.
Anyone know of a good equivalent replacement?
It's 48V - all I really need is to rectify - I
could do diversion with another controller.
Anyone know the specs or have experience for a
replacement rectifier for a Whisper 3.2 KW? (240
Volt Wild AC to 48VDC?)

Best,

Jeff C.
