Thank you for the copy of the post.  It's always very  interesting and
educational to see what customers and dealers say  about our products
and their performances.  We pay particularly close  attention to the
negative
comments because that's is where the opportunity for us to improve lies.
Please continue to inform us of anything interesting that you might come
across.

Now, to the question at hand.  The comment about the L16HC's (now known
as the L16H) having thinner plates than the standard L16 shows that the
person writing has no idea about our product.  The L16 series, which
comprise of the L16G (370 amp-hr), the L16P (390 amp-hr), and the L16H
(420 amp-hr) are all made using the same positive and negative plates.
It is the number of plates in each battery that accounts for the
differing capacities-- the L16G has 42 plates, the L16P has 45 plates,
and the L16H has 51 plates.  There is a trade-off in going from low to
high capacity and it's mainly life and maintenance; more plates means
less electrolyte and therefore more maintenance and slightly less life.
Which battery to use depends greatly on the application and the capacity
required.

I don't believe that we have ever claimed that the L16 is the answer to
anything.  I would definitely like to hear about some of the "wild
claims" that we've made.  The L16, like any other battery, will perform
well if the system that it is put into was properly designed to charge
and discharge the battery correctly and also if there
is a goodmaintenance program in place.
