grid tie unit [RE-wrenches]

Todd,

There are manufacturers of just such devices, however, you need the correct
AC generator to interface with the equipment. The easiest method is to use
an induction generator package. Induction generators are specifically
designed for grid interaction. A synchronous machine is much more
complicated for this type of application. As long as the unit is not being
used for backup power, a new induction generator package is probably the
best bet.

A list of recip engin manufacturers is at the following website.

l

Don't try cobble together your own solution. It needs to be a package.

Bill.

Wrenches,

There is a local CEC funded biomass project going in for our area. The
system will use "waste" wood in a gassifer to power an internal
combustion engine, driving a 50 kW, 3 phase AC generator. The big
problem is the grid intertie. Does anyone know of a "box" that one can
plug a small (up to 100 kW) generator into, plug the grid connection
into the other side and call it a day?

Todd
