flooded v. sealed batteries [RE-wrenches]

Hi Marco
I have lots of interest in batteries as most of my
systems are stand alone. I feel the sealed are (gel
or AGM) need very careful charging. My experiance
with remote unattended sites is I have had better luck
with AGM than with Gel. I installed 7 systems, 2 gel,
5 agm. both gel failed in less than 5 years, all 5
agm's are still working(7years now). The systems are
not identical, loads and use were different.

For my larger sites (stand alone homesteads and
Cabins) I use only flooded lead-antinomy cells. They
can take a fast charge rate so they can be recharged
when the generator or solar or wind is high. They also
survive high number of cycles.

For my grid tie, UPS in high frequency of power loss
areas, flooded lead-calcium. In low frequency of
power loss areas AGM.

Sorry if my answer was to long. All of my short life
UPS systems have had flooded lead-antimony, which seem
to use a lot of water near death.
