The "fix" of adding a motor run capacitor to the SW mostly helps with
loads that that are sensitive to the SW's wierd waveform zero crossing -
such as timers and such. I have not seen it reduce audiable noise on
motors or applicances.
The downside is a substantial increase in the idle power consumption -
as high as 50 watts with the cap installed. Also - to large of a
capacitor can result in "ringing" of the sinewave - causing excessive
peak voltages which may damage some loads.
My sources say that the SW plus has the same waveform as the previous SW
series - so I doubt if any of the problems have been fixed. It also is
not offered as a utility interactive version - so no grid tie
applications...
