Subject: HU361 as Combiner/Disconnect [RE-wrenches]

Hey Folks,

Any reason an HU361 couldn't be used as a 2 string (or even 3 string)
combiner/disconnect for a single SB? (as long as the combined
string amperage is below the "fuse rating" of each panel?)

Wired as follows:

________ + to SB
l l
0 0 0

0 0 0
l l
l l
l l
+ + from String 2
from String 1

I often use both a rooftop combiner disconnect like the PSSB and then
also put a HU361 in the power shed or basement in cases where one
wants to be able to shut down DC both on roof and near the Sunny Boy.
I have been using the PSSB on the roof (relying on Outback's rating
of being able to put two conductors into a single pole of a PSSB)
with the HU361 in the basement.

But I've never liked the PSSB as a combiner of two conductors on that
PSSB pole. One because I can't test each string separately without
rewiring and 2 because of the risk of one high voltage wire popping
out of that breaker screw. But it dawned on me that reversing the
two pieces of equipment would provide a better combiner. I could
then use two HU361s for that matter as they are cheaper than the PSSB.

Any thing I'm not thinking of here?

Jeff C.
