Don,

I think your number is in the right ballpark for off-grid because array
utilization tends to be low during summer months. Joel's number is accurate
for on-grid systems.

I figured this is more conservative than most. Not to quible but I prefer to
be very conservative estimating offgrid systems. I would go with your
derates
for a battery system -grid connected.
