Daryl,

Your study seems to follow the manufacturer's warranty limits virtually to
the letter. At 1% efficiency loss per year, we can expect our 1kW systems
installed in 2000 to be 800 Watt systems in 2020 minus another 6% for
inverter conversion losses. So, 750 Watts output (assuming of course you're
still getting that 1000 Watts per M/sq) and assuming the inverter company is
still in business and able to supply repaired units, the actual costs per
kWh will probably not be able to keep up with utility pricing escalation.

If the 1% loss per year continues at a linear pace (we can only hope it
won't), it's reasonable to expect a 30 year system life for PV, just in time
for a new roof!
