Yes - your right, Windy - we have planned to offer a 36vdc version of
the FX sinewave inverter/charger - if you look on our control board
there is even a jumper position to select it. The input range on the 24
vdc unit is very broad actually - I know it will run at 36 vdc but am
not sure of the performance/efficiency. I think the main issue for the
FX2024 is just stress on some of the internal filter capacitors or
something similar.

36 vdc (also called 42 vdc which is the "float condition" voltage) will
be the new standard of large RV / motorcoaches and even boats in the
future. There are already prototype long haul trucks at the big shows
with all 36 vdc electrical systems - only the lighter outlet in the dash
is 12 vdc which comes from a DC-DC converter off the 36 vdc battery
pack. One prototype does not even have a single incadescent bulb in the
entire truck - everything is HID or LED lamps.

Many of the manufacturers are not planning to power much of the loads
off of the 36 vdc battery directly - they plan on using an inverter to
power the heating/cooling and entertainment/convienence items instead.

I will check with Greg here at OutBack and will post another reply as to
the timeframe of a 36 vdc version.
