Matt,

As to tattle-tailing how about you contact the original designer/installer and give him the "opportunity" to learn how to do it right with your kind help? That way he could save some face and become a better installer in the process? It would be nice if people that do work like this could learn about their mistakes in a good way so they clean up their act (and hopefully all the other bad instals they've done). The bottom line is that these kinds of installs are a black eye to the entire
industry and need to be limited as much as possible.

On the good side, with some system mods, you can probably save the customer the upgrade costs. Once it is working right (and the PV's in the sun) the output will probably increase by 50+%.
